The Winning Streak Continues – Di Grassi Triumphs in Paris

Just when we thought the double podium from Long Beach cannot be topped – Lucas di Grassi did it again! Back-to-back victories for the Brazilian driver, the first in ePrix history, it could not have gone any better for our Warsteiner-sponsored ABT Schaeffler Audi Sport team!

The 7th leg of the FIA Formula E Championship, now on European soil after its tour around the world, was held on April 23 in Paris, the City of Lights! Traveling through the seventh arrondissement around the Hotel des Invalides with its chic apartment buildings and typical French cafes, the challenging street track of the first Paris ePrix turned out to be quite tricky, causing several slip-slides and crashes. Despite strict security measures and chilly temperatures, the atmosphere along the course was truly electrifying with a sell-out crowd cheering wildly and thousands of Parisians waving from windows and balconies, embracing and celebrating the idea of sustainable motorsport at the highest level.

After a perfect start, di Grassi wasted no time taking the lead by brilliantly outmaneuvering the pole driver Sam Bird in the first turn, and in true di Grassi fashion, he never gave it up. When the checkered flag greeted him at the finish line, a huge smile broke across the Brazilian’s face. It was pure joy and euphoria: “The fans, the atmosphere, the location – altogether this race in Paris was the best of the Formula E so far. I am so proud of our victory!”

  • Daniel Abt

Although his teammate and our Warsteiner brand ambassador, Daniel Abt, starting from the 14th position, did not join him on the podium as he did in California, he managed to hustle to 10th place which secured a valuable championship point.

Working like clockwork, the ABT Schaeffler Audi Sport pit crew once again allowed both drivers to switch cars with seamless perfection and great timing. Earlier in the day, some lucky guests of Warsteiner had the opportunity to tour the pit garage and chat with the crew before enjoying some legendary Warsteiner hospitality at the exclusive Emotion Club with its VIP seating and prime view of the race.

With an 11 point lead in the driver standing and their team in second place, Lucas di Grassi and Daniel Abt are now training their sights on the next Formula E race: On May 21, in Berlin, on home turf, in front of a home crowd – life could not get any better! Cheers, Warsteiner!
