WARSTEINER + ART

THE NETHERLANDS - In times when cultural budgets are tight everywhere, Warsteiner remains a steadfast patron of the international art and fashion scene. In the Netherlands, Warsteiner’s continuous support has given a variety of art events a welcome lift over the years. Here are some of the recent happenings where Warsteiner played a supporting role:

In March, the Urban Art House in Amsterdam featured a photography exhibit of works by JulianLennon and Geeert Kollau. Julian, like his famous dad John Lennon, is a multi-talented artist with a keen eye for atmosphere and mood, while Geeert dazzles with his storytelling art that echoes the symbolism of the “Old Dutch Masters.” Warsteiner supported this collaborative show to the delight of many guests on opening night.

In April, Warsteiner was the main sponsor at the launch of the 4th edition of I LOVE FAKE at the newly opened art gallery Guns & Butter in Amsterdam. Known for its trendsetting photography, interviews and insights, this biannual art magazine introduces an eclectic assortment of emerging fashion photographers, models and designers.

Another highlight for photography lovers was the Super Sale Party at the FOAM, the famous photography museum in Amsterdam. With music by the versatile duo Doppelgang, fans could peruse high-end art magazines available at steep discounts amidst the ultra-hip scene.

A rare treat for rock fans of all ages was served up by the GUP Gallery in Amsterdam: Archived for 40 years, photographs by the recently deceased Dutch photographer Harm Botman were on display featuring the Rolling Stones during the 1970 Amsterdam and 1973 Rotterdam concerts. Aptly called Rock’n Roll in the Netherlands, this exhibit offered a fascinating perspective of this legendary band in its prime . . . and yes, Mick and Keith were looking very young!

But that’s not all! In late May at the Reflex Amsterdam Gallery, the Warsteiner brand sponsored the opening of the second solo exhibit of the prolific American artist John Copeland, whose works have captivated audiences around the world. And on June 20, art fans can enjoy our refreshing premium beer at a launch party organized by the Amsterdam-based designer Antoine Peters for a new kind of art magazine. It aims at broadening the appeal of contemporary art by presenting in its first edition a two-dimensional art fair of recent and – often still available – works of art.
